“Aragorn Disapproves!” LOTR Star Viggo Mortensen Slams Vini Jr’s Ballon d’Or Boycott
In an attack on Vinicius Jr. for not attending the Ballon d’Or presentation, Viggo Mortensen, a Real Madrid supporter and Hollywood actor, called him a “spoilt child” in a letter to El País. Real Madrid had originally intended to go to the awards, but they decided to support the Brazilian star’s choice to remain away after finding out Vinicius would not win. After a fantastic season filled with Premier League and Euro 2024 victories, Rodri of Manchester City finally took home the award.
Mortensen’s Scathing Criticism
“Real Madrid, after finding out their spoiled child was not going to win the Ballon d’Or and the child was furious and sad, said that the club does not go where it is not respected. The boycott was denounced as “unsportsmanlike and arrogant conduct. Hala Madrid! always, but how embarrassed this makes me.”
Mortensen’s remarks provide an unusual insight into Real Madrid’s reaction to the Ballon d’Or result and reflect the growing annoyance of supporters who believe the boycott exhibited poor sportsmanship.
