Football world to bid farewell to Christoph Daum with a spectacular funeral ceremony
The football community was deeply saddened by the death of famous coach Christoph Daum, who lost his battle with lung cancer in Cologne on 24 August. The German coach, who was diagnosed in October 2022 and known for his contributions to both German and Turkish football, passed away at the age of 69.
The news of Christoph Daum’s death had a profound impact on football fans around the world. To honour his memory, an important farewell ceremony will be held, bringing the football family together.
The clubs of Cologne, Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart will organise a joint funeral for Daum on Thursday at 15:30 at the Rheinenergiestadion. Cologne President Werner Wolf will open the ceremony with a speech, followed by Thomas Helmer as moderator. The ceremony is expected to attract great interest from the fans and all areas of the stadium reserved for the event are expected to be full.
