Anadolu Efes Triumphs in the Final Quarter Against Olympiakos

In the 4th week of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, Anadolu Efes clinched a thrilling 91-89 victory over Olympiakos, thanks to a standout performance in the final quarter. This marked Anadolu Efes’ second win in the competition, while Olympiakos suffered its second loss.

The game, played in front of a full house at the Basketball Development Center, began with Olympiakos taking control early. Led by Vezenkov‘s strong play, the Greek team ended the first quarter ahead 23-11.

Anadolu Efes found their rhythm in the second quarter, with Larkin stepping up and Thompson hitting a crucial three-pointer to cut the lead to just one point with 3 seconds left, bringing the score to 41-42. However, Dorsey‘s last-second basket ensured Olympiakos held a 44-41 advantage at halftime.

The third quarter was evenly contested, with both teams exchanging blows from beyond the arc, Bryant for Anadolu Efes and Fournier for Olympiakos. As the game headed into the final quarter, Olympiakos maintained a narrow 70-65 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Olympiakos briefly stretched their lead to 8 points at 75-67 in the 31st minute. But Anadolu Efes, fueled by a strong surge from Bryant, took the lead for the first time in the game at 85-82 with just three minutes remaining. Despite a close finish, Anadolu Efes capitalized on critical mistakes from Olympiakos, with Larkin and Bryant hitting crucial baskets to secure the 91-89 win.

Symbolic Opening for Breast Cancer Awareness

The game’s opening tip-off was done with a pink ball to raise awareness for early detection of breast cancer. The symbolic gesture was part of the 11th edition of the “Pembe Top Sahada” (Pink Ball on the Court) initiative, in collaboration with Anadolu Efes and Anadolu Health Center. This year, model, actress, and TV host Çağla Şikel served as the voluntary ambassador and performed the ceremonial tip-off.
