Austin FC Appoints Former FC Dallas Manager Nico Estévez as New Head Coach

Austin FC has announced the hiring of Nico Estévez, former FC Dallas manager and U.S. men’s national team assistant, as their new head coach. After a challenging season that left Austin out of the playoffs for the second consecutive year, the club is hopeful Estévez can revive their form and restore their competitive edge.

Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell expressed enthusiasm for Estévez’s arrival, citing his MLS experience, ambition, and connection to Texas culture as key qualities. “Our search process was extremely detailed and we feel he is someone that ticks all the boxes… We believe he will be an excellent fit for this club and community,” Borrell stated, extending a warm welcome to Estévez and his family.

Estévez’s Coaching Journey and MLS Experience
Estévez, 44, brings valuable MLS knowledge from his time with FC Dallas, where he led the team to two playoff appearances in two seasons before parting ways in 2024. Most recently, he served as an assistant with the U.S. men’s national team under Gregg Berhalter and Mauricio Pochettino, gaining further experience at the international level. Now, Estévez takes on the challenge of leading Austin FC, aiming to make an impact both on and off the field.
