The contract of Bayern star Alphonso Davies (23) expires at the end of the season. He has recently been flirting with Real Madrid. The Canadian’s salary demands are considered too high by Bayern Munich. The club recently offered him an annual salary of around 13 million euros plus bonuses, but the defender wants more. He is asking for 16 million euros plus bonuses.
Additionally, Davies and his agent are reportedly asking for an extra 15 million euros as a signing fee for a new contract. Negotiations have stalled for now. Now, the player himself speaks to BILD about his future.
Davies makes it clear: “My full focus is on this team. I am playing for Bayern Munich right now, and that’s where my concentration lies. I want to win every game. That’s why I’m not thinking about this right now. Whether I stay or leave, I will always carry this club in my heart.”
When asked whether a contract extension is still possible, Davies said: “That’s a good question; you’d have to ask my agent. My focus right now is on winning every game. I’m not thinking about the other stuff at the moment.”
Could there still be an agreement? Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund (47) has also not closed the door on a contract extension. He said, “Talks have taken place, but they haven’t yet led to an agreement. Phonzie is currently on a well-deserved break, and once he returns, we’ll see. The door is definitely not closed.”
Davies is playing an important role under new coach Vincent Kompany (38). He has only missed one competitive game. Recently, the Canadian started in both the Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb (9-2) and the Bundesliga victory against Werder Bremen (5-0).
