Besiktas’s Huseyin Yucel comments on the derby!

Besiktas Vice President Huseyin Yucel expressed confidence that the team will emerge victorious in the derby against Galatasaray, which will take place tomorrow in the Trendyol Super Lig.

Speaking to reporters after the Ordinary Administrative and Financial General Assembly Meeting of 2024 held at the ICC Istanbul Congress Center, Yucel said, “We have a serious derby match tomorrow. We are going with great hope. Our only goal is to leave the field with a victory. We believe that, with the power of our fans, we will leave the field victorious.”

Yucel stated that they expect the referee to manage the match fairly, saying, “Let’s think positively so that it will be positive. Our only expectation is for the referee to manage the match in a way that does not affect the outcome. I believe that the referee’s decisions will not influence the match tomorrow. A contest will be displayed where the deserving team wins. We will all watch and see.”

Regarding social media claims that he participated in a disrespectful chant against Galatasaray at the congress, Huseyin Yucel replied, “I did not applaud. There were about 2,500 of us in the hall. A group of our fans may have chanted. It was definitely not clear. Let’s not assume any bad intentions; it was completely an isolated incident. As a management and community, we did not give value to such things, and we will not in the future.”
