A major setback has hit Galatasaray as Mauro Icardi faces an injury issue. The Argentine striker, who was substituted due to an injury in the 25th minute of the match against Adana Demirspor, is now facing a lengthy recovery period.
The club released an official statement regarding Icardi’s condition:
“In the first half of the Trendyol Süper Lig match against Adana Demirspor in the fourth week, Mauro Icardi felt pain in his right upper hamstring. Subsequent examinations revealed a grade 2 strain (involving stretching, bleeding, and a partial tear) in his right upper hamstring group. His treatment has begun.”
Possible Two-Month Absence
Initially expected to be sidelined for around a month, it is now possible that Icardi could be out for as long as 1.5 to 2 months. The Argentine striker had a strong start to the season, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist in his 3 Süper Lig appearances so far.
Osimhen to Lead the Attack
Coach Okan Buruk was reportedly waiting for Icardi’s return to implement his dual striker plan. In the meantime, it is expected that Osimhen will take on the role as the lone center-forward in the starting lineup during Icardi’s absence.
