Bruno Fernandes reveals why Alejandro Garnacho didn’t celebrate Man Utd goal

Bruno Fernandes has revealed he had to tell Alejandro Garnacho to celebrate his goal against Leicester City because the Argentinian was reluctant to do so after facing criticism from Manchester United fans.
Ruud van Nistelrooy ended his interim spell as Red Devils manager with a 3-0 win against the Foxes on Sunday, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the opener before having a major role in Victor Kristiansen’s own goal.
Garnacho curled in a beauty to wrap up the scoring in the 82nd minute, having come off the bench as a substitute just before the hour mark, but the 20-year-old was reticent to mark his strike with a gesture to the crowd.
Speaking after the match, Fernandes said Garnacho thought he had lost the backing of the Old Trafford faithful but revealed he told him not to worry about what critics say.
United’s skipper said: “It was a good day at work, I have to say. We have a lot of players with big qualities, but people can get too excited after one game and too down after another.
“Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.
“I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn’t going to happen.”
United remain 13th in the Premier League and will soon get to work with incoming head coach Ruben Amorim, though a number of their stars will now jet around the world for games with their national teams during the November break.
Van Nistelrooy, who took over when Erik ten Hag was sacked at the end of October, has also revealed he expects to learn whether he has a role under Amorim in the next few days.
