Call to Fans of the A National Women’s Basketball Team
Head coach Ekrem Memnun and the players of the A National Women’s Basketball Team, who will host Romania in the third match of the FIBA 2025 Women’s European Championship Qualifiers Group F on Thursday, November 7, have called for support from the fans.
Ekrem Memnun, who made a statement to an AA reporter before the national team training at the Basketball Development Center (BGM), said, “Our team was destined to play the first national match in a magnificent facility like BGM. We are experiencing great excitement for this. We will play a very important match of the 2025 European Championship qualifiers against Romania on Thursday, November 7, at 19:00. It is also our first national match at BGM. We are very excited, and we will play a very important match. We are waiting for all basketball fans to come to BGM to support our women’s national basketball team,” he said.
Ayşe Cora, one of the national basketball players, reminded that they had won their first two games in the group and said, “We won the first two matches last winter, and we want to win the next two to enter February with a great advantage. Again, if we win the next two, we will most likely be guaranteed a spot in the European Championship. A lot of effort was put into building BGM. It took a long time to construct, and now we are very excited to play our first match here. I hope we will have a great opening with a win, supported by our fans. We are preparing in the best way possible. We have all come here from our clubs. We are a team that has been playing together for many years and knows each other well. I believe we will get a good win by playing great basketball,” she said.
Gökşen Fitik commented, “We are very excited and happy for our first national match at the Basketball Development Center. We are all united with the same spirit to go 2 for 2.”
Meltem Yıldızhan said, “We are going to our first match at the Basketball Development Center, the new home of the national teams. We invite everyone to the match. We are stronger together.”
- The National Team Continues its Preparations
The national team continued its preparations for the Romania match with a training session at the Basketball Development Center.
The team had a session lasting about 2 hours under the guidance of head coach Ekrem Memnun.
The FIBA 2025 Women’s European Basketball Championship Qualifiers will take place on Thursday, November 7, at 19:00, with Turkey hosting Romania at the Basketball Development Center in Group F. On Sunday, November 10, Turkey will face Slovakia away.
