Following Ryan Barnett’s outstanding performance against Northampton, which resulted in great compliments including the moniker “Shropshire Shevchenko,” Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are being advised to get Ryan Barnett a new deal.
Playing a major part in Wrexham’s fourth goal at SToK Racecourse and supplying three assists, the 25-year-old winger shined in their 4-1 triumph. Barnett joined Solihull Moors in February 2023 and has soon grown to be a major Red Dragons player. But his contract only links him to the squad until summer 2025, so as he keeps improving, supporters and team players urge for an extension.

Appreciations from Teammates and Directors
Wrexham director Humphrey Ker, who lovingly referred to Barnett as the “Shropshire Shevchenko,” in an homage to the venerable AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, has praised his current form. While Elliot Lee characterized Barnett as “some boy,” indicating the increasing respect within the team for Barnett’s skill and influence, Teammate George Dobson went even farther, humoristically labeling Barnett the “best player in the world.”
Calls for a new deal are gathering steam as Barnett’s impact on the field keeps attracting the attention of the team, fans, and the Hollywood owners.
