Carlo Ancelotti: I Demand Goals!

Kylian Mbappé receives the same instruction from Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti that he previously issued to Karim Benzema: score goals, not press. Mbappé has scored eight goals in 12 games since joining from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but Ancelotti is expecting even more from the 25-year-old.

Ancelotti clarified that his main expectation of Mbappé is to concentrate on completing opportunities rather than putting pressure on the opponent, just like he did with Benzema. “I expect Mbappé to score goals.”

When Real Madrid regains possession, Ancelotti’s plan is to have the forward in the best situations. “I prefer him to score goals than to press.” he told reporters.

The Function of Mbappé at Real Madrid

Mbappé has rapidly established himself as a key member of Real Madrid despite a somewhat sluggish start to his career, but Ancelotti still has high expectations for him. Like Benzema did during his successful years at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Italian coach wants Mbappé to be prepared to take advantage of transitions.

As Mbappé continues to acclimate to his new job at Real Madrid, Ancelotti intends to bring out the best in him by establishing clear expectations.
