Champions League Draw Excitement! What Will the New Format Be? Here Are All the Details…

The 36 teams participating in the UEFA Champions League have been determined following the matches played. The draw for the 2024-2025 season of the competition will be held today.

Four more teams earned the right to participate in the league phase following the matches in the play-off round of the Champions League. Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade, Slovan Bratislava, and Lille all secured their spots in the league phase after defeating their opponents in last night’s matches. The draw for Europe’s number one club competition will take place today at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo.

WHAT WILL THE NEW FORMAT BE LIKE?

For the first time this season, the competition will be held in a league format. The first matches will be played from September 17-19, with the league phase ending on January 29, 2025. The top 8 teams at the end of the league phase will directly qualify for the Round of 16. Teams finishing 9th to 24th will enter the play-offs.

In the play-offs, teams ranked 9th to 16th will face teams ranked 17th to 24th.

The 8 teams that prevail over their opponents will qualify for the Round of 16. Teams outside the top 24 will be eliminated from the competition.

The 36 teams that have qualified for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League are as follows:

  • Italy: Atalanta, Bologna, Inter, Juventus, Milan
  • Germany: Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Leipzig, Leverkusen, Stuttgart
  • England: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City
  • Spain: Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Girona, Real Madrid
  • France: Brest, Lille, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain
  • Portugal: Benfica, Sporting Lisbon
  • Netherlands: Feyenoord, PSV
  • Austria: Salzburg, Sturm Graz
  • Scotland: Celtic
  • Belgium: Club Brugge
  • Ukraine: Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Czech Republic: Sparta Prague
  • Switzerland: Young Boys
