Chelsea Targets Murillo in Active Transfer Window
Chelsea is experiencing a busy transfer window ahead of the new season, with Nottingham Forest defender Murillo being their latest target. According to journalist Sami Mokbel, Chelsea is closely monitoring Murillo, whose value ranges between £55-60 million, as they aim to return to their former glory in the Premier League.
Winds of Change at Stamford Bridge
With Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino, Stamford Bridge is witnessing another summer of transformation. Chelsea has made seven signings this transfer window. Currently on a preseason tour in the USA, the team secured their first victory under Maresca by defeating Club America 3-0 on Wednesday.
Transfer Targets
The London club is still searching for a striker and a winger. Strong links have been established regarding the transfer of Victor Osimhen from Napoli. However, Chelsea is also keeping an eye on the other end of the pitch. Mokbel reported that the club continues to scout Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, valued at £55-60 million.
Murillo’s Performance
Murillo impressed in his first Premier League season. After joining Nottingham Forest from Corinthians last summer, he performed exceptionally well and is regarded as one of the league’s best young defenders. Forest avoided relegation for a second consecutive season, with the 22-year-old featuring in 36 matches across all competitions. If he stays at the club, there’s no doubt he will remain a key player next season.
Future Plans
In an interview with The Telegraph, Murillo expressed his need for regular playing time, stating that another season at Forest would help him mature as a player. However, he also admitted that his ultimate goal is to play in the Champions League.
Chelsea’s Defensive Transfers
This summer, Chelsea signed Tosin Adarabioyo. Additionally, young defender Aaron Anselmino is very close to completing his transfer from Boca Juniors. While the club is trying to offload Trevoh Chalobah, there is currently no room for more defenders. However, if Chalobah departs, Maresca’s team may pursue another defensive reinforcement.
