Chicago Red Stars Rebrand as ‘Chicago Stars’ Ahead of 2025 NWSL Season
Ahead of the 2025 season, the Chicago Red Stars, one of the original teams of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), have announced a redesign. After 15 years as the “Red Stars,” the team will now just be called the Chicago Stars, marking a new era in its history.
Chicago will also unveil a redesigned badge as part of the rebranding, honoring the original name and the iconic emblem that symbolizes the city of Chicago by prominently displaying a red star in the center. The Chicago Fire of the Major League Soccer underwent a similar rebranding five years before to this one.
Club President Karen Leetzow on the Change
Club president Karen Leetzow praised the rebrand as a move toward honoring both the club’s rich history and its future ambitions.
“As the stewards of this club, Laura Ricketts, the ownership group, and the leadership team believe it is time to evolve our identity as a symbol of this new chapter. It is our intent going forward to honor the legacy made by past players, fans, and associates, while carving a new path for the club and representing Chicago more authentically on and off the pitch.”
