Ott Tanak completed the first day of the Chile Rally in the lead, just 0.4 seconds ahead of Elfyn Evans from Toyota. Although Tanak didn’t appear completely comfortable during any of the stages on Friday, he managed to maintain his overall lead.
Despite being only 0.4 seconds behind Tanak, Hyundai driver Evans entered Saturday in second place.
Defending champion Kalle Rovanpera, facing some confidence issues, sits in third place, 7.1 seconds off the pace. Toyota driver Sami Pajari, competing with a Rally1 car, is fourth, 9.3 seconds behind.
Thierry Neuville, starting the day in a disadvantaged position, is currently sixth, 20 seconds behind fifth-place Grégoire Munster.
The Rally1 classification concludes with Esapekka Lappi in seventh, 36.1 seconds behind, followed by Adrien Fourmaux, who is 1 minute and 1 second back, and Sébastien Ogier, who had a tough day, finishing 1 minute and 24.9 seconds behind.
