Clash of EuroLeague Underdogs: ALBA Berlin Overcomes ASVEL with Hermannsson and Spagnolo

In the third round of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, ALBA Berlin secured their first win of the season by defeating ASVEL 84-79 in a closely contested game at home. ASVEL, on the other hand, suffered their second loss of the campaign.

ALBA Berlin was led by Martin Hermannsson, who scored 21 points, while Matteo Spagnolo contributed 16 points. Trevion Williams had a standout performance with a double-double, recording 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Tim Schneider and Yanni Wetzell also added 11 points each for the German side.

ASVEL’s top contributors were Theo Maledon with 16 points and 7 rebounds, Paris Lee with 15 points, and Neal Sako, who posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Veteran players Nando de Colo and Edwin Jackson chipped in with 10 points each, but their efforts fell short.

Despite a balanced first half, ALBA Berlin pulled away in the third quarter and managed to maintain their lead until the final buzzer, marking a much-needed victory.
