Cole Palmer Told He’s ‘Far from World-Class’ by Emmanuel Petit After Liverpool Performance

Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 for £42.5 million ($54 million), Cole Palmer, a budding star, has emerged as one of the team’s most notable players. Emmanuel Petit, a former midfielder for Arsenal and Chelsea, has dampened the enthusiasm surrounding Palmer, asserting that the young player is still “far from world-class.”

Petit’s Evaluation of Palmer

While acknowledging Palmer’s talent, Petit cautioned against the hoopla surrounding the 21-year-old in an interview with Genting Casino. Will Cole Palmer’s form be ruined by the publicity surrounding him? “I don’t believe so,” Petit remarked. Prior to Palmer’s comeback in September, he acknowledged Palmer’s outstanding performances from the previous season but pointed out that the current campaign had a less stellar start.

Petit was unambiguous in his opinion, though, that Palmer still has a lot to prove before he can compete at the highest levels of football. “Palmer is a very good player but he’s not yet a top international player and that’s the level he needs to reach.” Petit stated.

“He shows promising skills, maturity, and personality, but he’s done nothing yet if we’re honest and is far from world-class at the moment.”

Palmer’s Long Road Ahead

Despite the fact that Palmer has displayed flashes of his potential since joining Chelsea, Petit’s remarks reveal the opinion that the young midfielder still has a long way to go before he is regarded as one of the best in football. Palmer is still a bright young player, but Petit’s comments serve as a reminder that sustained greatness over time is necessary to become a world-class player.
