Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola has shared an emotional message as the club faces the threat of relegation. City is set to enter a serious legal process due to 115 Financial Fair Play violations, with Guardiola appearing resigned to the club’s fate.
The alleged violations occurred between 2009 and 2018, and City has been warned that they could face relegation if found guilty. The trial is set to begin this fall, and according to The Independent, a decision is expected before the end of the season. However, Guardiola insists that City will not contest the decision.
Speaking to journalists, Guardiola said, “I’m happy that the trial will start soon and hope it ends quickly. It will benefit all of us, especially the club, as well as the other Premier League clubs and everyone who isn’t expecting a penalty.” He continued his emotional message with, “From the bottom of my heart, I tell the independent panel once again: go to the independent panel and clarify what happened as soon as possible, and as we always do, we will accept it.”
Manchester City started the new Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with goals from Haaland and Kovacic. However, the club’s future will be determined by the court’s decision.
