COULTHARD COMPARES NORRIS TO SCHUMACHER AND SENNA
Former F1 driver David Coulthard believes that Lando Norris’ performance in the Singapore Grand Prix reflected the caliber of past legends.
Norris won Sunday’s race, starting from pole position and finishing nearly 21 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. This marked Norris’ third victory of the season and his second win with a gap of over 20 seconds to the car behind.
Speaking to Channel 4, Coulthard said, “He was a master at gently kissing the barriers without even lifting one corner of the car.”
“This shows that he has reached perfection.”
“The only thing that really surprised me was when he had that lock-up towards the end of the lap, I think at Turn 14, where he touched the Tecpro barrier.”
“Apart from that, he was flawless. What a performance. The driver and the car were in perfect harmony.”
“It’s been like that since the first practice session on Friday, he had a significant edge over Oscar, who also did a great job coming back to take the podium.”
Coulthard also compared Norris’ current form to seven-time champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, as well as Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna.
“Lando is very humble and incredibly likeable,” Coulthard added.
“He is not yet aware of how big and important his performance is.”
“I think we can place him among those delivering peak performances like Senna, Schumacher, and Hamilton.”
“We can all win a race with a bit of luck, but this was an exceptional performance,” he concluded.
