Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo has showered praise on Barcelona’s 17-year-old rising star, Lamine Yamal, labeling him as one of the brightest talents of his generation. Yamal, who has been performing at an exceptionally high level in recent months, is not only regarded as one of the top young players but is also drawing comparisons to some of the best footballers in the world.
Yamal was named the Best Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024, an achievement that caught Ronaldo’s attention. Speaking to the press, Ronaldo said, “I see great talent in Lamine Yamal. I hope he stays injury-free, and I am confident he will be one of the best of this generation.”
The young Barcelona forward made his first-team debut at the age of 15 and has since established himself as a vital player under the management of three different coaches: Xavi Hernandez, Luis De La Fuente, and Hansi Flick. Yamal has had a strong start to the new season under Flick, forming a dangerous partnership with Raphinha in Barcelona’s attack.
Most recently, Yamal made headlines in the Champions League group stage opener against Monaco, becoming the second-youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history, following in the footsteps of Ansu Fati.
