His presence sparked Portugal’s second-half comeback, with former team-mate Bruno Fernandes equalising in the 54th minute. Ronaldo then scored the 900th goal of his career against Croatia. There were shouts of joy in the air. It was a mesmerising moment for Ronaldo.
A few days later, in the 88th minute, he touched Nuno Mendes’ centre for the 901st goal of his career and helped Portugal to two wins in two games.
