Current Situation in Europe’s Top 5 Leagues

The matches of the weekend continued in the top five football leagues in Europe: Germany (Bundesliga), France (Ligue 1), England (Premier League), Spain (LaLiga), and Italy (Serie A). In LaLiga, Barcelona solidified its lead, while in the Premier League, the top spot changed hands.

In England, Manchester City, in Spain Barcelona, in Germany Bayern Munich, in Italy Napoli, and in France Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) all occupy the top positions in their respective leagues.

Manchester City on Top

In the Premier League, Manchester City defeated Southampton 1-0 at home with a goal from Erling Haaland, taking over the top spot in a week where Liverpool dropped points. In the match of the week, Arsenal drew 2-2 at home against Liverpool, marking Arsenal’s second consecutive match without a win and ending Liverpool’s four-match winning streak. Manchester United continued its poor form, losing 2-1 to West Ham United and suffering its fourth point loss in the last five weeks. National player Ferdi Kadioglu played 72 minutes for Brighton, which drew 2-2 at home against Wolverhampton. After Week 9, Manchester City leads with 23 points, followed by Liverpool with 22 points, and Arsenal and Aston Villa with 18 points each.

Barcelona Dominates in El Clasico

In LaLiga, Barcelona maintained its lead by defeating Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico, with goals from Robert Lewandowski (2), Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha. Barcelona extended its winning streak to three matches, while Real Madrid suffered its first defeat of the season. National player Arda Guler did not play for Madrid in this match. In other matches, Villarreal defeated Valladolid 2-1, while Atletico Madrid lost 1-0 to Real Betis. National player Bertug Yildirim played the full 90 minutes in Getafe’s 1-1 draw against Valencia. Bayern Munich Leads by Goal Difference

In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich won 5-0 against Bochum with goals from Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, and Kingsley Coman. Leipzig remained unbeaten, winning 3-1 at home against Freiburg. Borussia Dortmund, managed by Nuri Sahin, lost 2-1 to Augsburg, marking their fourth away loss this season. After Week 8, Bayern Munich leads with 20 points, ahead of Leipzig on goal difference. Bayer Leverkusen, Union Berlin, and Freiburg each have 15 points.

Napoli Maintains Leadership

In Serie A, Napoli extended its winning streak to four matches with a 1-0 victory over Lecce, thanks to a goal from Giovanni Di Lorenzo. In the match of the week, Inter drew 4-4 with Juventus in the Italy derby, with national player Kenan Yildiz scoring two goals for Juventus. National player Hakan Calhanoglu missed the match due to injury. Fiorentina defeated Roma 5-1, with national player Zeki Celik playing the full match. After Week 9, Napoli leads with 22 points, followed by Inter with 18 points and Juventus with 17 points.

PSG on Top

In Ligue 1, PSG won 3-0 against Olympique Marseille in the “Classic” match of French football, with goals from Joao Neves, Leonardo Balerdi (own goal), and Bradley Barcola. Monaco, a title contender, suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Nice, while Lille won 2-0 against Lens. PSG leads the league with 23 points, followed by Monaco with 20 points, and Marseille and Lille with 17 points each.
