Arteta Confident Gabriel Jesus Will Be ‘Unlocked’

After Gabriel Jesus ended his protracted nine-month goal drought in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup triumph against Preston, manager Mikel Arteta of Arsenal thinks the Brazilian is poised for a comeback. After a string of ailments had hampered his form and reduced his playing time, Jesus, who had gone 25 games without scoring, hit the net in a resounding victory, suggesting a possible turning point in his Arsenal career.

Arteta shared his hope after the game, adding:

“I’m very happy, I think it’s going to unlock that for him. He’s performing with the right attitude as always, but he needed that feeling that he can put the ball in the back of the net.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Jesus, who has only started one Premier League game this season, may have a new chapter in his career after his goal at Deepdale. Jesus has only played 881 minutes since January, so it will be essential that he stays healthy and keeps scoring goals if he wants to have a significant influence on Arsenal’s hopes of winning the championship.
