BRAZILIAN FANS CHEERED FOR DRUGOVICH AFTER STROLL’S ACCIDENT
Some footage from the Brazilian Grand Prix revealed the moment when Lance Stroll cheered fans on Aston Martin backup driver Felipe Drugovich after the formation tour accident.Aston Martin had a rough weekend at Interlagos; both Lance Stroll and his teammate Fernando Alonso crashed in the qualifying session, which was postponed to Sunday.In the race, which took place after the qualifying and started in rainy conditions, Strol had a brake failure in the 4th corner of the formation lap and had an accident.
The Canadian pilot went directly into the gravel pool while trying to return to the track and was unable to move his vehicle again.
A video posted on social media revealed footage of Brazilian fans cheering after the moment of the crash, saying the name of Drugovich, Aston Martin’s backup driver, since 2022.
Speaking to the media after his withdrawal from the race in Interlagos, Stroll said that he could not do anything for his accident in the formation lap and that it was terrible to be out of the race so early.
“It was really weird,” Stroll said.
“As soon as I touched the brake, there was a big crash behind the vehicle and I couldn’t do anything.”
“I’ve never felt this in the car before, so maybe there was a brake failure problem and we should look into it.”
“This was really sad. It’s really terrible to be out of the race on the formation round, but we need to see what happened,” he said.
