After 5 years, Singapore’s biggest gaming festival is back.
College Game Fest (CGF) is back in Singapore after a five-year break, and it’s bigger than ever. The event, which aims to promote competitive games and e-sports instruction, will take place at ITE College Central on October 26th and 27th. The festival wants to show off local talent and bring attention to Southeast Asia’s growing e-sports business by having a lot of contests and other fun things to do.
The Asia Pacific Predator League playoff, with a prize pool of S$10,000 (~£5,878), will be the best part of this year’s CGF. Plus, CGF will be the site of the Campus Legends Invitational, which will include games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Street Fighter 6. Over the course of two days, college teams from all over Southeast Asia will fight, bringing their best.
CGF isn’t just about racing, though. It’s also about teaching and making esports more sustainable. The Singapore Cybersports and Online games Association (SCOGA) puts on the event and works with schools and community e-sports projects to give kids real-life experience with games, making content, and making media.
It’s getting better for e-sports in Singapore.
Singapore is making a name for itself in the world of e-sports, and more events are coming up soon. In 2025, Esports Insider will hold its main event in Singapore, which will focus on games, esports, content creation, and education. A well-known competition organizer, BLAST, has also said that it will hold events in Singapore in 2024 and 2025. This will make the country even more of an esports hub.
Dennis Ooi: Campus Game Fest Isn’t Just Games
President of SCOGA and co-chairman of Campus Game Fest Dennis Ooi stressed that the event is about more than just games. According to Ooi, Campus Game Fest has always been more than just a celebration of gaming. It’s also a place where students can get involved in games, media production, and content creation. “By letting students help with different parts of the event, we’re giving them hands-on learning opportunities that go beyond what they learn in school.”
The return of CGF will not only be a thrilling gaming show, but it will also be a chance for students and aspiring esports fans to learn more about professional gaming and media creation. People in Singapore, get ready! Campus Game Fest is back and better than ever.
