Ronaldo and Mane Lead Al-Nassr to Triumph
On target were Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane as Al-Nassr won 2-1 over Al-Rayyan, a Qatari team, in the AFC Champions League. From the start, the Saudi Arabian side dominated and seized control of the game; both stars are essential for the squad to succeed.
Ronaldo grabbed on a pass from Angelo Gabriel and launched a right-footed effort at goal, but Al-Rayyan goalie Paulo Victor saved it in the 10th minute, therefore marking the first serious chance of the game. Three minutes later, Ronaldo squandered still another chance when a precise cross from Angelo landed in front of the net, only to be stopped once more by Victor.
Al-Nassr finally broke the impasse on the verge of half-time since Sadio Mane was unmarked and headed home from a Sultan Al Ghanam cross to provide the home side a 1-0 lead.
Ronaldo’s Tenacity Counts.
Ronaldo found the back of the net at the beginning of the second half, but following a protracted VAR check his goal was ruled out for offside. Still, the Portuguese superstar refused to let that setback stop him. Abdulrahman Ghareeb positioned him on the correct side of the box in the 76th minute, at last providing his opportunity. With a left-footed drive, Ronaldo gently slanted the ball into the net, extending Al-Nassr’s lead and recording his seventh goal in eight outings overall.
Al-Rayyan pulled one back in the last phases of the game, when Roger Guedes scored a consolation goal from Achraf Bencharki’s assist. Al-Nassr, however, hung on to grab the victory while keeping their great AFC Champions League form.
