Daniel Dubois to Oleksandr Usyk: “We Have Unfinished Business” Before Cruiserweight Drop

Daniel Dubois Issues Challenge to Oleksandr Usyk: “We Have Unfinished Business”

Daniel Dubois has a clear message for Oleksandr Usyk, the unified heavyweight champion, if the Ukrainian is considering a return to the cruiserweight division: “We have unfinished business.”

It’s been a year since Dubois was controversially stopped by Usyk in the ninth round of their world title clash in Wroclaw. Since then, the 26-year-old has bounced back with impressive TKO victories over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

With a blockbuster bout against Anthony Joshua scheduled for September 21 at Wembley Stadium, live on Sky Sports Box Office, Dubois is eyeing a potential rematch with Usyk. The winner of the Joshua fight is likely to face whoever triumphs in Usyk’s highly anticipated December rematch against Tyson Fury.

Usyk has previously hinted at dropping back down to cruiserweight to reclaim his undisputed status at the 14-stone limit, but Dubois is determined to settle the score before that happens.

“I need to go in there and right that wrong,” Dubois told Sky Sports. “There is definitely unfinished business between me and Usyk, and that’s part of my rise. I was in a dark place before, but now I’m coming into the light, so I need to get that back. He was at cruiserweight before, and I’m sure he could drop back down, but let’s see how the future plays out.”
