Following their poor 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, Dimitar Berbatov has harshly attacked Manchester United players, warning under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag about the possible repercussions should performances remain poor.
Seeking a win to relieve Ten Hag of increasing pressure, United entered the game against Villa, but the stalemate was their seventh consecutive game without a victory in all competitions. Though Jonny Evans, the 36-year-old defender, was instrumental in keeping Villa under control, he still showed some defensive improvement when compared to past performances.
Scathing Notes by Berbatov
United icon Berbatov was unreserved in his criticism, implying that Evans’ strong defensive performance highlighted the failings of his colleagues. Berbatov said:
“everybody on the pitch should be ashamed” and cautioned Ten Hag that ongoing bad performance would make it impossible for him to escape criticism and scrutiny over his management style.
The draw at Villa Park increased to the pressure on United to turn around their form and establish consistency as they try to ascend the standings and reduce concerns about the club and coaching staff.
