Following Manchester United’s 2-1 loss to West Ham due to a controversial VAR ruling, Erik ten Hag voiced his fury. After a VAR review determined that Matthijs de Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings was a foul, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham scored a penalty in stoppage time. Referee David Coote gave the penalty after a protracted monitor review, despite Ten Hag’s contention that Ings seemed to run into de Ligt. This was United’s fourth Premier League defeat of the year.
“We Feel Injustice.”
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Ten Hag voiced his disappointment, stating:
“Three times this season we feel injustice. We have to score; we created so many chances. We should’ve been two or three up.”
Despite United’s dominant performance, Ten Hag noted that the team “allowed them into the game” and that “the way we conceded the penalty was unfair and unjust.”
