The U20 Women’s National Volleyball Team, crowned European Champions, has returned home after securing a major victory against Italy in the final of the U20 European Championship, co-hosted by Bulgaria and Ireland. The victorious team was greeted with flowers and cheers at Istanbul Airport.
Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, speaking at the airport, emphasized the team’s undefeated journey in the tournament and their remarkable success. Üstündağ stated, “This victory illuminates the future of Turkish volleyball. We have once again proven the strength of our youth development system.”
Head Coach Gökhan Durmaz highlighted that the team played 18 official matches throughout the tournament, winning all of them, and expressed the immense pride of being crowned European champions. Durmaz added, “My players and staff showed great dedication, and in the end, we became European champions.”
Team Captain Beren Yeşilırmak shared her pride in leading the national team for the first time and said that the team had anticipated this success. She also expressed her happiness at winning the Best Opposite award and shared her dream of playing for the Senior National Team.
