Fenerbahce Claims 9th Consecutive Win Against Archrival

In Week 3 of the ING Women’s Basketball Super League, Fenerbahce Opet defeated Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring 82-73 on home court, marking their 9th consecutive league victory against Galatasaray.

Playing at the Fenerbahce Metro Enerji Sports Hall in front of a full crowd, Fenerbahce effectively utilized their inside scoring, while Galatasaray found success from beyond the three-point line. Despite this, Galatasaray ended the first quarter with an 18-16 lead.

In the second quarter, Galatasaray continued their success from outside shooting, while Fenerbahce scored primarily in the paint and from fast breaks. Galatasaray scored 24 points from three-pointers in the first half, but Fenerbahce countered with 26 points in the paint, going into halftime with a 42-38 lead.

Fenerbahce stepped up their game in the third quarter, extending the lead to as much as 15 points (60-45) before entering the final period with a 62-51 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Galatasaray mounted a comeback, reducing the deficit to four points (69-65) after a three-pointer from Derin Erdoğan in the 36th minute. However, Fenerbahce maintained control and scored critical points to widen the gap, ultimately securing an 82-73 victory in the derby.

This win marked Fenerbahce’s 9th consecutive victory over Galatasaray in the Women’s Basketball Super League.
