Ferrari will no longer use Bearman
Oliver Bearman’s unexpected comeback after Kevin Magnussen’s illness at the Brazilian Grand Prix has left Ferrari and Haas in a difficult position.
The young Briton is competing in his third grand prix at the Interlagos circuit and will not be available as a rookie in free practice or the post-season Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi.
Ferrari, who need to field another rookie in free practice this season, are said to have a driver in mind to comply with the regulations. According to Italian media, Ferrari plans to use Antonio Fuoco in at least the first free practice session ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Fuoco is an experienced driver who has previously driven for Ferrari during F1 post-season testing on several occasions. Fuoco is a former Formula 2 driver and was active at the Yas Marina circuit in 2020 and 2021. Previously part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Fuoco served as a test driver and reserve driver for the Dragon team in Formula E during the 2018-2019 season.
The Italian driver achieved his greatest success to date in the World Endurance Championship, finishing second in the just-concluded season with Ferrari’s hypercar, and his most notable achievement was winning the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
