Galatasaray Bows Out of Champions League, Focuses on UEFA Europa League
Galatasaray’s hopes in the UEFA Champions League were dashed as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Young Boys at home, leading to their exit from the tournament. The Yellow-Reds will now continue their journey in the UEFA Europa League. But who could be Galatasaray’s potential opponents in this season’s newly formatted Europa League?
This season, like the Champions League, the UEFA Europa League will adopt the Swiss model. Under this new system, the number of matches per team will increase from 6 to 8. Galatasaray will play a total of 8 games in the league stage, with 4 home and 4 away matches.
Before the draw, the Europa League will feature 4 pots, each containing 9 teams, for a total of 36 teams. During the draw, each team will be paired with 2 opponents from each pot. As a result, Galatasaray will face two teams from each pot, including their own.
Galatasaray’s probable opponents that have been confirmed as of now are as follows:
Manchester United, Roma, Porto, Rangers, Real Sociedad, E. Frankfurt, Tottenham, Lazio.
