Guardiola Requests a €70 Million Transfer for Marc Guehi

Having dominated the Premier League in recent years, Manchester City plans to sign Crystal Palace’s young defender Marc Guehi at the request of manager Pep Guardiola. According to reports in the Spanish media, Guardiola believes that this transfer would further cement City’s superiority in England.

Manchester City’s Transfer Plans and Financial Position

During the summer transfer window, Manchester City added only two players to their squad, bringing in Savinho from Troyes and İlkay Gündoğan back from Barcelona. However, City generated around €100 million from the sales of Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Sergio Gomez, and Tommy Doyle, creating substantial financial room to strengthen the squad in future transfer windows.

Guardiola’s Request for Marc Guehi Transfer and Future Plans

With Guardiola’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Manchester City management has given him until Christmas to decide whether to renew it. Meanwhile, Guardiola wants to bring in Marc Guehi, whom Crystal Palace is open to selling for a fee of €70 million. Guardiola believes Guehi, who shined in England’s Euro 2024 squad in the absence of Harry Maguire, would provide healthy competition for Ruben Dias and John Stones.

Competition for Marc Guehi’s Transfer and Future Prospects

Newcastle United made offers for Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window, but Crystal Palace rejected them. With Guehi’s contract expiring in two years, Crystal Palace may have to sell him for a lower price next summer. Guardiola sees this transfer as a strategic move to strengthen Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League.
