Horner: Verstappen must now be among the best in history
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner believes Max Verstappen should be considered among the greatest F1 drivers of all time when he clinches his fourth F1 drivers’ championship.Max Verstappen now has a 62-point lead over Lando Norris after his remarkable recovery from 17th place to win the São Paulo Grand Prix.
The Dutchman will clinch his fourth title in Las Vegas if he finishes ahead of Norris or scores at least three points more.
Horner acknowledged that Verstappen took a significant step towards the title in Brazil.
Asked by Talksport if Verstappen was special for F1, Horner replied: “Yes, absolutely.”
“If he can get his fourth title, and I think he took a big step in Brazil, then he should be among the best in the sport.”
“The Brazilian GP was one of his best drives. To win the race from 17th place in those conditions was extraordinary.”
“I think he competes at an incredible level, which he has consistently shown. It’s great to work with him, he gives you everything.”
“And he still has that hunger and passion, which is great to witness.”
