Leonardo Jardim’s New Team Announced

Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, who parted ways with Qatar’s Al Rayyan last June, will continue his career in the Arabian Peninsula. Jardim has signed with Al Ain, a club based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Following the departure of Hernan Crespo, Al Ain appointed Jardim as their new head coach. In a statement from the UAE club, it was confirmed that Jardim signed a contract until the end of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Ain currently sits 8th in the UAE Pro League with 8 points, having played two fewer matches than most teams after the first seven weeks of the season.

Clubless Since June

Jardim, who has previously managed teams such as Braga, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon, and Monaco, most recently coached Al Rayyan in Qatar. The 50-year-old has been without a club since June. Jardim has also had prior experience in the Arabian Peninsula with Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia) and Shabab Al-Ahli (UAE).
