Christian Horner revealed that Helmut Marko wanted Daniel Ricciardo to leave earlier and that he tried to delay the decision.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has detailed the decision to continue with Liam Lawson instead of Daniel Ricciardo for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Horner mentioned that Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko wanted Ricciardo to leave the team after the Spanish Grand Prix in June, but he attempted to postpone that decision.
Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Horner said: “Around the time of the Spanish GP, Helmut wanted Ricciardo out of the team, and from then on, there was a lot of pressure.”
“I did everything I could to give Daniel as much time as possible, otherwise he would have been out of the seat after Barcelona.”
