Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Admits Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man Utd Return Was a “Wrong Decision”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former manager of Manchester United, revealed that Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, suggested against re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021.
In order to keep Ronaldo from joining rivals Manchester City, United made a last-minute attempt in 2021 to get him back from Juventus. Even though Ronaldo scored 24 goals in his debut season, his presence was eventually perceived as a factor that disrupted the dynamics of the team, which ultimately led to Solskjaer’s removal early in the following season.
From Solskjaer’s perspective
According to Solskjaer, McKenna, a member of his coaching staff, had warned him about the possible consequences of Ronaldo’s signing. Despite Solskjaer’s original ambitions, some supporters and commentators now believe that the club’s leadership was responsible for this decision because they were keen to surpass City and land a high-profile acquisition.
