Perez Admits Red Bull’s Singapore Performance a “Surprise” After Challenging Practice Sessions

Sergio Perez expressed concern over Red Bull’s performance after Friday’s practice sessions at the Singapore Grand Prix, acknowledging that the team has work to do to remain competitive. Coming off a strong showing in Baku, where Perez outqualified his teammate for the first time in a year and fought for a podium finish, the Mexican driver admitted that the team was surprised by their struggles in Singapore.

“I think we are a bit better compared to the first practice session, but we still lack a lot of balance,” Perez said. “It’s quite difficult to put together a good lap, and our performance doesn’t look good at the moment.”

Perez added, “This really surprised us. We have some work to do throughout the night because we’re quite far from the front; we’re almost a second behind. We’ll see what we can do about that. It could be a pretty tough weekend, but we’ll work hard to be competitive.”

As Red Bull aims to address their balance issues, Perez’s comments suggest that the team could face an uphill battle as the weekend progresses.
