Red Bull: “We have decided everything we need to do on the 2025 car”

Red Bull had been expected to clinch the double title again after Max Verstappen won four of the first five races of the 2024 season, a dominance similar to last season.

However, Red Bull’s wrong development path and McLaren’s strengthening caused the team to lose its competitive advantage.

Although Verstappen’s superior performance enabled him to maintain his points lead and come to the brink of the championship, Red Bull dropped to third place in the constructors’ championship.

Red Bull Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan said the setback has not changed plans for the RB21, the 2025 car.

Asked if Red Bull had a clear direction for 2025, Monaghan said: “I can tell you yes, but I guarantee everyone will be nervous ahead of the first test next year.”

“Even in the middle of the season, we knew what we wanted to achieve with next year’s car.”

“And next year’s car is also affected by the challenges of the 2026 car. So yes, we know what we want to do. At the moment, all our plans are in place.”

But Monaghan admitted it would not be clear how much progress Red Bull will make over the winter until it sees what its rivals have achieved.

“But what matters is how we do compared to our competitors.”

“We know what we are trying to achieve and then we will see how much development work we need to do.”

“We want to fight for the championship next year, it will be a big challenge that will test the abilities of everyone within Red Bull Racing . But we will try.”
