Rob Holding’s Struggles at Crystal Palace

Rob Holding’s Struggles at Crystal Palace: Defender Yet to Make Premier League Debut After 2023 Move

Rob Holding, who joined Crystal Palace from Arsenal in the summer of 2023, hasn’t made his new team’s Premier League debut yet, and his circumstances have led to concerns regarding his long-term stay at Selhurst Park. The 29-year-old defender’s career was thought to have a chance to be revitalized with the transfer, but less than a year later, he is no longer a key member of the team.

When the men’s and women’s teams united to commemorate an anniversary, it was clear that Holding was having difficulties at Palace. His absence from the photo sparked questions about his position with the club. Holding is not in manager Roy Hodgson’s plans, as it was quickly discovered that he had been virtually banished from the first team setup and was working with the under-21 group.

Playtime Restrictions

Holding has only played once for Crystal Palace since his transfer, and his future is questionable due to his lack of playing time in the starting lineup. Holding, a seasoned defender with more than 150 appearances for Arsenal, has struggled to get playing time at Palace despite the team’s injury and rotation of players.

Compared to the new start many anticipated when he left Arsenal, where he was also having trouble getting consistent minutes, his circumstances at Palace are very different. For the time being, Holding’s banishment begs the issue of whether he can make it back into the starting lineup or if a transfer out of Selhurst Park is imminent.
