Roy Keane has questioned Bruno Fernandes’ leadership abilities, questioning the Manchester United captain’s recent apologies to former manager Erik ten Hag. Following United’s 1-1 tie with Chelsea, Fernandes revealed that he personally apologized to Ten Hag, accepting responsibility for the team’s struggles this season alongside his teammates.
Following Ten Hag’s departure, Fernandes admitted that the blame did not fall exclusively on the previous manager, noting that the players were equally responsible for United’s lackluster performance in the 2024-25 season. His apologies came when fans and the media criticized the team’s performance.
Keane’s Response
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane was critical of Fernandes’ gesture, labeling it as “too little, too late.” He remarked, “These are always awkward interviews, but I wouldn’t have much time for a player to say, ‘Sorry, we let you down.’ Too little, too late. We judge what you’re doing on the football pitch, and I don’t think Bruno has done enough in a lot of games.”
