Tottenham Fans See Brennan Johnson as an Alternative to Harry Kane

Brennan Johnson’s sixth goal in as many games against Brighton tied a record set by Harry Kane, leaving Tottenham supporters in amazement.

In addition to giving Spurs the lead, Johnson’s goal on the south coast continued his remarkable run of six goals in as many tournaments as he had started. Harry Kane was the last player for Tottenham to accomplish this accomplishment twice, once in the 2018–19 season and once in 2015. Teddy Sheringham in 1995 and Clive Allen, who scored seven goals in a row in the 1980s, are the only two Spurs players to have accomplished this feat.

Johnson’s Outstanding Shape and Likenesses to Kane

Johnson scored just six goals in the 2023–24 season after joining from Nottingham Forest. By October, though, in his second season at Spurs, he had already tied that total with three goals in the Premier League, two in the Europa League, and one in the Carabao Cup.

Due to his recent performances and finishing prowess, Johnson has begun to be perceived by Tottenham supporters as a possible “long-term replacement” for outgoing captain Harry Kane. Some have even likened him to a “prime Gareth Bale”.
