UEFA INVESTS 1 BILLION EUROS IN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL
The governing body of European football has launched its new project.
UEFA, aiming to support the growth of women players, coaches, referees, and teams, will invest 1 billion euros in women’s football over the next six years from 2024 to 2030.
UEFA announced its six-year strategic plan under the title “Unstoppable,” aiming to elevate women’s football to unprecedented levels by 2030. Following the introduction of a new competition system and format for national teams, the 2025 UEFA Women’s Football Championship will be held, along with an updated UEFA Women’s Champions League, and starting next season, a second major club competition will be launched.
With full support from the Turkish Football Federation, UEFA aims to create new opportunities for players, coaches, and referees while making football the most played team sport in every European country. Currently, there are six fully professional leagues in women’s football and around 5,000 licensed female athletes playing football across the continent. Through this plan, UEFA aims to significantly increase the number of professional leagues and athletes.
