Vinicius Junior Faces Backlash! “Winning the Ballon d’Or Would Be the Biggest Crime in History”

Brazilian fans have targeted Vinicius Junior for not performing well for his country. The Real Madrid star was completely ineffective in Brazil’s recent CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Paraguay, where they lost 1-0. Despite trying to make an impact in the second half, his efforts were not enough to help Selecao secure at least a point in the away game.

FANS’ STRONG CRITICISM!

After the match, angry Brazilian fans criticized Vinicius for failing to lead his country to victory and even claimed that the Ballon d’Or favorite does not deserve the individual award.

X users wrote: “We cannot allow someone like Vinicius, who looks like a ghost in every match for his national team, to win the Ballon d’Or. It would be the biggest crime in sports history.”

Another commented: “No exaggeration. Vinicius must be one of the worst international performers based on club performances in football history. We’re talking about someone who will win the Ballon d’Or in the future. He has done nothing for Brazil. At this point, how can Brazil even field him?”

Someone else added: “There is a reason Zidane always benched him. Vinicius has been terrible under every manager except Ancelotti. He’s not even a system player, which is a disaster in itself—a problem with his skill set. If he wins the Ballon d’Or, it’s too late. RIP 🤦🏾‍♀️”

Another critic argued: “It’s extremely worrying that Vinicius Jr. only touched the ball 37 times in a match where Brazil had over 70% possession. It’s not like he’s trying things and they’re not working. He’s not even trying at all…”

A Manchester City fan also joined in the criticism: “Yet people say he should win the Ballon d’Or. Absolutely pathetic. Rodri is performing brilliantly for both club and country.”

After losing their fourth match in eight games, Brazil dropped to fifth place in the CONMEBOL standings. However, with the top six teams qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, their chances of qualifying remain high.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR VINICIUS?

After a tough time with the national team, Vinicius Junior will be eager to return to the comfort of playing under Carlo Ancelotti. He remains one of Los Blancos’ key players and will look to put his poor international performance behind him when the reigning La Liga champions face Real Sociedad on Saturday.
