Vivianne Miedema Admits to Feeling ‘Nervous’ Ahead of Scoring for Man City Against Arsenal in WSL Thriller
Vivianne Miedema, the all-time leading scorer in Women’s Super League (WSL) history during her time with Arsenal, admitted to feeling “nervous” ahead of her return to face her former club as a Manchester City player. Miedema, who switched from north London to the North West in the summer of 2024, made her mark by scoring in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Miedema took to social media after the match to reflect on the emotional occasion, saying:
“There’s not been many games I’ve been more nervous for than this one. But thank you, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome (back) from all fans today.”
Miedema enjoyed a successful spell with Arsenal, winning the WSL title in 2018-19 and lifting three League Cups. Now, as she embarks on a new challenge with Manchester City, she is eager to add more silverware to her collection. The 2024-25 season is in full swing, with Miedema and City aiming to dethrone defending champions Chelsea.
