“We Established a New Team”
VakıfBank Women’s Volleyball Team Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti expressed his satisfaction with the team’s youthfulness, stating, “We have established a new team that will open a different chapter in VakıfBank history with motivated, ambitious, and young players.”
Guidetti spoke to AA reporters along with the national player Cansu Ozbay and the team’s general manager Banu Can Schurmann at the VakıfBank Sports Palace.
He noted that they made changes to the roster ahead of the new season, saying, “We formed a new team with 7 new transfers, and they are working very hard. We want to keep the VakıfBank name as high as possible.”
Regarding the new and young squad, the Italian coach remarked, “It is certain that we will face some difficulties at the start of the season, but in the end, everything will be great. Every change is very difficult at first, complex in the middle, but the result is wonderful. We know we have made significant changes and will encounter some challenges, but we want to finish well and participate in all finals.”
Guidetti emphasized the desire to create a young team, stating, “Some changes were necessary. On the other hand, we wanted to create a different group of players.”
He added, “We can identify the generations at VakıfBank with their captains. After Gozde, Melis, and Gabi, now it will be Zehra leading VakıfBank.”

The experienced head coach commented on the significance of changing the captain, stating, “It is normal to change the team a bit when you change the captain. We rejuvenated the team with a young captain. We established a new team that will open a different chapter in VakıfBank history with motivated, ambitious, and young players.”
Having celebrated multiple championship victories in various organizations, Guidetti said, “When you win, you become addicted to winning more. When we achieve success and reach the top of the mountain, we notice an even higher mountain. We are always ready for higher mountains and challenges.”
Regarding VakıfBank’s achievement of entering the Guinness World Records for being the most successful team in the CEV Women’s Champions League for the third time, Guidetti stated, “To be honest, the Guinness record is nice for me, but not very important. What matters more to me is new championships and the new players joining VakıfBank to develop further with us.”

Cansu Ozbay, the national player of VakıfBank, expressed the team’s desire to achieve success in all competitions they will participate in this season.
Cansu said, “We are a very new and young team. This is a beautiful thing. Everyone is open to success and learning. I believe that with Giovanni, everyone will reach a much better level. There are very talented players in the team this year. I believe we will achieve great things together.”
Regarding her personal goals, Cansu expressed, “I want to represent VakıfBank in the best way. After that, I will work on how much I can improve myself.”
On the new captain Zehra Güneş, Cansu shared, “I am very happy. I was very emotional. Being the captain of such a club after growing up in the infrastructure is something that not everyone gets to experience. I congratulate Zehra.”
“A Young and Dynamic Squad. We Are Open to Surprises”
Banu Can Schurmann, the team’s general manager, mentioned, “The squad for this season is young and dynamic in terms of age. We are open to surprises.”
Schurmann indicated that Giovanni Guidetti aims to build a promising squad, stating, “We start the new season with the goal of playing in the finals. The team is ready.”
