Tiger and Charlie Woods Shine on Day One

Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie delivered an impressive performance at the PNC Championship in Orlando, finishing the first day tied for the lead. The father-son duo carded a 59 in the opening round, putting them at 13 under par alongside Bernhard and Jason Langer, and Vijay and Qass Singh.

Event Highlights:
The 36-hole exhibition tournament features current and former professional golfers playing with a parent or child. The tournament allows the use of golf carts and concludes on Sunday.

Woods Duo: A Strong Partnership

This year marks Tiger and Charlie’s fifth appearance at the PNC Championship. The pair previously finished second in 2021 and tied for fifth in 2022.

Tiger’s Perspective:
“It’s a scramble, so we’re trying to pull off each and every shot for each other,” said 48-year-old Tiger Woods. “Charlie made pretty much most of the putts today.”
Charlie’s Thoughts:
“I didn’t hit it great, but Dad saved me on a couple of them and I rolled them in,” Charlie added.

Tiger’s Return to Action

This tournament is Tiger Woods’ first since The Open in July, where he missed the cut for the third consecutive major. After undergoing back surgery in September, Woods expressed gratitude for being able to compete alongside his son.

Tiger on Playing with Charlie:
“I’m not competitive right now, but I just want to have the experience again,” he said.
Regarding Charlie’s growing skills, Tiger noted, “He has yet to beat me for 18 holes. That day is coming – I’m just prolonging it as long as I possibly can.”
