Dursun Ozbek Responds to Acun Ilıcalı’s Statements

Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek has responded to the statements made by Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı. Ozbek stated, “We have been against this mentality that tries to create chaos and hopes to gain from it, and we will continue to stand against it.”

Dursun Ozbek released a statement via the social media account of the yellow-red club.

In his statement, Ozbek addressed Acun Ilıcalı’s remarks made during a broadcast he participated in yesterday. He began by recalling the meeting held yesterday with the President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and the presidents of the four major clubs. “Yesterday, we gathered with the presidents of Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Trabzonspor at the invitation of TFF President Mr. İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. In this meeting, all the presidents made a decision to be more careful in our future statements to create a climate of brotherhood,” Ozbek explained.

“WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BEHIND OUR PROMISE”

Ozbek continued, “Not even 24 hours after our decision, an executive from one of the clubs present at this meeting made statements in a television program that once again targeted our club with the same perceptions. Despite this insincerity, we continue to stand behind our promise.”

Dursun Ozbek concluded his remarks by saying, “In times when our country needs unity and solidarity the most, we will oppose this mentality that seeks to create enmity among brothers, escalate tensions in society, and hopes to gain from chaos, just as we have done before.”
