Chelsea’s Struggles Continue in 2025

Chelsea have endured a miserable slump so far in 2025, with their performances in the Premier League leaving much to be desired. Among the concerns for manager Enzo Maresca is the dip in form of star midfielder Cole Palmer, who has now gone five league games without finding the back of the net. Furthermore, Palmer has not registered an assist in his last 13 outings, highlighting the larger issues plaguing the Blues this season.

Cole Palmer’s Goal Drought Raises Concerns

Cole Palmer, who has been one of Chelsea’s standout players this season, has recently struggled to deliver the level of attacking output expected from him. His latest performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa showcased his frustration, as he missed a significant opportunity to get on the scoresheet. This downturn in form is not just affecting Palmer individually but is also reflective of Chelsea’s overall difficulties in front of goal.

Despite this, Enzo Maresca remains unfazed by Palmer’s temporary struggles. Speaking in a press conference, the Chelsea boss emphasized that goal droughts are a natural part of a player’s career and reaffirmed his confidence in Palmer’s ability to bounce back.

Enzo Maresca’s Advice to Cole Palmer

Enzo Maresca has reassured fans that he is not overly concerned about Palmer’s lack of goals or assists. Instead, he urged the 22-year-old to remain focused and continue working hard, believing that his performances will improve naturally over time.

“I’m always concerned about general performance, but I’m not concerned about Cole because Cole is a human being, and during the season, he can have some moments where he struggles a little bit more,” Enzo Maresca explained.

One of Enzo Maresca’s primary concerns is that Chelsea have become too reliant on Palmer to provide attacking inspiration. He reiterated that the burden of responsibility should not fall solely on one player and that the entire team must step up to improve their attacking output.

“The problem with Cole is probably that we rely on Cole for everything, and I’ve said since the start, we need to rely on the team. For sure, we need big players, top players like Cole, but we are not worried about Cole at all.”

How Palmer Can Rediscover His Best Form

When asked about how Palmer can regain his best form, Enzo Maresca had a simple response: keep doing what he’s been doing. According to the Chelsea manager, Palmer does not need to change anything drastic to overcome his current struggles.

“Just continue working in the way he is working,” Enzo Maresca advised. “The other day, I think yes, he had a great chance, but overall, the performance from Cole… every game, we expect goals and assists from him, so it’s difficult.”

Enzo Maresca also pointed out that Palmer’s recent dip in form is a reflection of Chelsea’s broader struggles in attack. The team has been struggling to convert their chances, and Palmer’s numbers are naturally suffering as a result.

“He is a human being. In this moment, his performances probably reflect the team’s performances that we struggle to score goals, and we need to be a bit more clinical when we get the chances.”

Chelsea Must Find Solutions as a Team

Chelsea’s inconsistency in front of goal has been one of their biggest weaknesses this season, and their inability to capitalize on key moments has cost them crucial points. While Palmer’s form is a talking point, Enzo Maresca’s comments suggest that the solution does not lie with one player alone. Instead, Chelsea must collectively improve their attacking play, creating more opportunities and finishing with greater efficiency.

As the Blues continue their fight to climb up the Premier League table, all eyes will be on Palmer to see if he can rediscover his goal-scoring touch. With Enzo Maresca’s unwavering support and a strong team effort, Chelsea will hope to turn their season around and bring an end to their recent struggles in 2025.
